Our pimple scar on face is actually initiated by our body’s response or over-response to the damage / injury caused by the previous inflamed acne lesions and to some people, the scar can be emotionally devastating.

The pimple scar on face can be further categorized with 3 dimensional approach under Atrophic scar and they come in 3 different types which are commonly found:

• Icepick scar – Very sharp V-shaped penetration with deepest penetration. Diameter: <2 mm
• Boxcar scar – U-shaped with uniformly outlook. Diameter: 2-4 mm
• Rolling scar – Very blunt penetration but with uniform appearance. Diameter: >5 mm

Among the 3 Atrophic scars as mentioned previously, most will agree that the most annoying is perhaps the rolling scar. Why? This is due to the nasty uneven bumps that resemble more like skin mutations rather than pimples on face. There are in fact, another 2 more dented genuine scars caused by pimple as a result of the collagen running amok, the keloidal and hypertrophic scars due to excessive tissue repair with the keloidal being the ugliest of all scars.

The terms keloidal and hypertrophic are frequently used interchangeably although there are some clinical dissimilarities among them. There are also some distinct similarities for the keloidal and hypertrophic scar as they tend to occur commonly in darker complexion people and they also tend to run in families.

Info - Atrophic is depressed scar like a valley or sinkhole on skin. Both hypertrophic and keloidal scars are elevated like bumps on skin and will diminish with time. Keloidal on the other hand will continue to expand and grow

When pimple scar becomes bad and uncontrollable, it is an ugly scene and before we can attempt to remove any pimple scar on face, it is worthwhile to get acquaint with some underlying facts about the scarring nature caused by the acne.

However, as we are living in this un-perfect world, even with the best techniques, scars will still arise. There are 2 types of pimple scars. The 1st type is the discolored area sitting on top of apparently smooth skin. The 2nd type has a dented mark on skin. This ‘mimicking’ discolored mark resembles an unwanted spot even though not being a true scar by nature. It is actually the skin’s immunity response after having the appearance of pimples on face.

This type of mark tend to diminish over time and the time frame may take up to 1 year for it to disappear completely. If you are eager to remove this pimple mark faster and also have some extra bucks to spend, you can opt for skin peeling or skin exfoliation. For the extra stubborn mark, you may go for stronger treatment by using the bleaching ingredients but apply with extreme care as not to over-lighten the said area, if not it will look terribly odd.
