Pimple Scar Types & Removal - Pt 2

Our pimple scar on face is actually initiated by our body’s response or over-response to the damage / injury caused by the previous inflamed acne lesions and to some people, the scar can be emotionally devastating.

For the more serious genuine pimple scar which

causes skin indentation as the result from collagen breakdown and infection by pimples, by nature, it is harder to remove and the bad news is that it will be more prominent as skin ages. The pimple scar on face can be further categorized with 3 dimensional approach under Atrophic scar and they come in 3 different types which are commonly found:
  • Icepick scar – Very sharp V-shaped penetration with deepest penetration. Diameter: <2 mm
  • Boxcar scar – U-shaped with uniformly outlook. Diameter: 2-4 mm
  • Rolling scar – Very blunt penetration but with uniform appearance. Diameter: >5 mm
Among the 3 Atrophic scars as mentioned previously, most will agree that the most annoying is perhaps the rolling scar. Why? This is due to the nasty uneven bumps that resemble more like skin mutations rather than pimples on face. There are in fact, another 2 more dented genuine scars caused by pimple as a result of the collagen running amok, the keloidal and hypertrophic scars due to excessive tissue repair with the keloidal being the ugliest of all scars.

The terms keloidal and hypertrophic are frequently used interchangeably  Remove Acne Pimples Scar although there are some clinical dissimilarities among them. There are also some distinct similarities for the keloidal and hypertrophic scar as they tend to occur commonly in darker complexion people and they also tend to run in families.

Info - Atrophic is depressed scar like a valley or sinkhole on skin. Both hypertrophic and keloidal scars are elevated like bumps on skin and will diminish with time. Keloidal on the other hand will continue to expand and grow
